Philanthropy
“…to develop a stronger and more womanly character…”
The Delta Rho Chapter of DELTA DELT DELTA are involved in Philanthrophy events so we can:
-Supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
-Embracing the Lexington community
-Growing in sisterhood
-Engaging in meaningful service
The responsibility to serve and the motivation to improve our community thrives in the hearts of University of Kentucky Tri Deltas. Through our partnership with our national philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org, our members work hard year after year to raise money for and awareness of the amazing things happening at St. Jude. Additionally, our chapter and individual members support many events and causes. Whether through participating in other Greek-sponsored philanthropy activities, being involved in the community, or assisting alumni with events, philanthropy and service surrounds all we do.

Delta Rho’s BIG Events:
-Dancing With the Greeks
Modeled off the hit TV competition “Dancing With the Stars”, DWTG is a couples dancing competition featuring a sorority woman and fraternity man performing a ballroom dancing routine. All funds raised from the event go to St. Jude. In its first year in 2009, among the guests were patient-speaker, Makayla, and her family, and UK basketball players Patrick Patterson and Ramon Harris served as celebrity judges. Stay tuned for more details for DWTG 2010!
-Midnight Munchies: APRIL 29 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m.
Come hungry, and with $5 to enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at the Tri Delta House from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on Thursday April 29, with all proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! A Tri Delta Tradition at the University of Kentucky, this light hearted, heavy stomach event draws crowds from across campus in hopes of satisfying a late-night appetite and supporting St. Jude!

-Sincerely Yours
Our most successful fundraising initiative, Sincerely Yours is a letter writing campaign that takes place each fall. With members sending donor request letters, we incorporate the community, alumni members, friends, and family in raising money for St. Jude. This is an extremely crucial project for our chapter members and we greatly appreciate all of your support! If you are interested in submitting your address for the letter writing campaign, please contact Anna Hays at annalhays@live.com .

Since the 1970’s Delta Delta Delta’s chosen philanthropy has been Children’s Cancer Charities. This philanthropic cause encompasses a wide array of charitable organizations and represents the collective effort of Tri Delta’s members and chapters across the United States and Canada who continue to donate goods, volunteer time and host fund-raisers for the research and treatment of children with cancer.
Chapters organize and plan their own events each year to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Charity of their choosing.
Tri Delta’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital allows chapters the option to help on a national level while continuing to support local causes. Since beginning the partnership in 1999, Tri Delta has raised more than 9.1 million dollars. Nationally, our goal is 10 million dollars by 2010...help us reach it!
Help us reach our 2010 goal of $41,000 for St. Jude!
